Ramadan 1433H Post #07

Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned and upon it (the evil of) what it has wrought: Our Lord! do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake; Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us, Our Lord do not impose upon us that which we have not the strength to bear; and pardon us and grant us protection and have mercy on us, Thou art our Patron, so help us against the unbelieving people.

- Surah 2. Al-Baqarah, Verse 286 -

yesterday, my students and i, plus some other teachers broke our fast at an orphanage.
it was my first time.
and the feeling was different, but a nice kind of different. :)

to know how blessed i am to have a home to go to. to have parents to go home to.
and these kids,
no promises can be made to them if they'll even see their parents.
it was so hard to control the tears. :'(
i hugged my mum long & tight the moment i reached home. :'(
may these kids be given strength and patience to overcome the challenges that they faced, are facing and will face in the future.

on another note,
time flies doesn't it.
We're almost reaching towards the end of Ramadan.

It's usually towards the end when you just got into that fasting groove that you kind of not look forward to it's ending. :/
well, that's just me.
hope your Ramadan has been a good one for you.

I love you more than ...

Taking another break from Ramadan posts cos the-other-half told me to listen to this.
And I couldn't stop smiling.

:))))))

"I never really believe that I'd find somebody that I love as much as you. I love you more than anything in the whole world."

Me: Dear, am I the best thing that's ever happened to you?

Him: Yes dear.

HEHEHE. Nak kena tanya jugak. ;p

Because you are the best thing that's ever happened to me.
And I love you more than chocolates. And fruit tarts. And ayam goreng.
Cos these comfort foods i love very much too. LOL!

but really really,
so blessed.
thank you Allah.

Ramadan 1433H Post #03

And every year, especially during this Ramadan month, i learn (and re-learn) to be grateful with what i have.. because really, not everyone has it easy.. and then you realise, how really, really fortunate you are.. that all your complains, your whinings, can never, ever compare to theirs.. the fact that i have a family, to go home to, to iftar with.. alhamdulillah..

---

"My family - aside from my 8 y/o brother  (Alhamdulilah for His guidance), don’t believe in Islam.
When I break fast, I break fast alone.
When I make suhur, I make suhur alone.
When I pray, I pray alone.

Everyone else celebrates with their families. They talk about the family activities they are doing. They talk about the special “Ramadan food” their mom cooked.
They talk about eating Iftaar together with their family.

It’s a month where I realise more than ever that my own family doesn’t believe.
It’s a month where I realise the differences more and more.

I suppose I can’t handle watching everyone else post about how happy they are with their families.
Not because I resent any of you the happiness you experience, but rather because it makes me realise that,

I can’t have that with my own family."

may Allah grant ease for her.. insyaAllah..

Ramadan 1433H Post #01

“Often we find that the darkest times in our lives are followed by the most precious. Sometimes it’s at the moment when everything looks broken that something least expected lifts us and carries us through. Like the sun that rises at the end of the night, our dawn has come. In His infinite mercy, Allah has sent the light of Ramadan to erase the night. He has sent the month of the Qur’an so that He might elevate us and bring us from our isolation to His nearness. He has given us this blessed month to fill our emptiness, cure our loneliness, and end our soul’s poverty. He has sent us the dawn that we might find from darkness – light.”
- Yasmin Mogahed -

This quote shall start off my yearly ritual of Ramadan postings. :)

my very own fairytale

So, despite it being a long day in school yesterday followed by an hour of tuition, what follows after that was oh-so-worth the long day & lack of sleep. :)

and what was it that followed after that long day?

well, i had my share of  Subway across the border. YUMS! (though i wish i had bought some bread home for breakfast this morning. hehe. cos so jelak of canteen food.)
And my dosage of  motion picture.
And finally, let's just say it consists of a plan.. part of it is of us waking up at 4.45am in the morning. ;)

i'm happy for it to be our little secret.

till next time. *winkz*

Resilience

Perseverance.

That is what that's keeping me going, especially when it comes to work or school. whichever. doesn't matter.
Things can get really tiring at times,
and me, being the lembik person that i am,
sometimes, feel like putting everything away & just run (this part kalau run betul-betul takpe, at least dpt lose some babats... lol!)

so yeah, i'm proud of myself for surviving the 1st year!
4 more years to go...
why 4 more years eh? lepas tu nak quit ke? nak jadi tai-tai boleh? haha. ok diam.

but neh, i plan to do this long term.
because i love them kids.
yup, all puluh-puluh of them.

but 1st year of course the most memorable...
my 1st form class,
my 1st cca with my lovable mak-nenek dancers (having to layan all their bitch fights & i-dont-want-to-talk-to-you moments)... love them nonetheless. been there done that girls.
my 1st few malay classes. from sec 1 all the way to sec 3.
my first camp.
my first teachers day.
my first eee.pee.em.ass (which i have every reason to be proud of)

yup, will remember it definitely.

plus the fact that during this first year,
someone came (back) into my life. :)
alhamdulillah.

life seems complete doesnt it. :)

i have everything that i need, that i want, and so much more.

blessed indeed.
alhamdulillah.

how absolutely perfect

"Take a chance.
Because you never know how absolutely perfect something could turn out to be."

(via lovequotesrus)

Glad i took a chance then.
Even more glad i took a chance now.
Most glad you choose to take the chance with me.
*blessed*

after the crazyyy hectic weeks since the start of february -

last week i was down for the last 2 days of the week cos i was simply too lethargic & my whole body was just aching like crazy, followed by Chingay (again) at the heartlands this time around burning away my saturday night,
and the start of this week saw me having lack of sleep & rest because of a presentation due on wednesday...

-----

- it all ended on a sweet note last night. :)

thank you for everything. :)

as always,
i miss you already.

Ushering in 2012

has been all smiles since the start of the new year. :)
honestly no words can explain this feeling i'm having right now. :)

God is indeed Great. :)

i still remember the previous year when i met 2011 with tears streaming down my face. But He turned everything around & allowed me to experience such wholesome euphoria while ushering in 2012.
there's a first for everything. and this first, i kinda like... ;)

though i'm not sure what the future holds, i'm definitely looking forward to more wonderful things to come. insyaAllah.
i shall continue counting the endless blessings that He has bestowed upon me. shall not look back & continue moving towards the future. :)

"Remembers today like it was yesterday."

I recall saying that with tears in my eyes back in 2011. But this time around, those same words are uttered with a sheepish smile on my face. Hee~
It's amazing how things change. :)

Hope the start of 2012 has been good for you too.
:)

p/s i believe you noticed too how many smiley faces i have in this entry. hehe.

1 Muharram 1433H

Alhamdulillah, Allah is Just & Fair.

A year ago, I was celebrating Muharram with tears in my eyes & a very heavy heart. It definitely felt like I would never be happy again. I surrender myself to Him & Him alone. Pasrah was the word.

Never would I have thought that a year later, these feelings would be looked upon as lessons from the past. Never would I have thought that this year, everything will turn itself around.

This year, despite with Miss Red Riding Hood coming to visit, I feel a sense of calm & acceptance. That now I know every single thing happens for a reason. That everything happened so that I can learn from it & (try) not to make the same mistakes again. That things happened so that I can find myself again & know what it is I'm doing & where I'm going with my life.

Though there are still uncertainties, I know I'll be fine eventually. We'll all be fine. We just have to have faith. And also cos, I'm optimistic like that. :)

Allah is All-Knowing. Syukur ya Rabb.

Salam Maal Hijrah to all my friends & readers.

May this Muharram, the start of the Islamic year, brings you peace & joy like how it did me. May you find what it is that you are looking for & always know that despite everything, despite everyone,
Allah will always be there for you. :)

p/s Looking forward to tomorrow! ;)

Allah is the best of planners; continued

so, for my dear readers who happen to stumble upon yesterday's entry would know that my day yesterday ended off on an awesome note. alhamdulillah. :)

what started off as an oh-so-emotional day (no surprises there, november is a melancholic month for me), ended with dearest cuzzie, Nadiah asking me to tag along to her ustaz's class.

it all started with her sending me an image of Barney Stinson (shall not elaborate on him today.. if you watch himym you should know.. shall not elaborate on himym also.. see, i always digress on nonsense things like this) & how he is getting more awesome despite everything else.

and then me replying to her on how emotional i am at that point of time because of something not-so-important but at the same time not-really-that-irrational (to me). am very thankful she understands this nonsensical emotional roller-coaster ride that i have at times. *hugs*

to cut the story short, the watsapp conversation ended with her asking me to join her for class @ al-falah after maghrib. and i agreed since i have nothing on at night & the class sounds interesting -- "The 10 Promised Paradise."

the moment i stepped into the class, the first thing that struck me was why were there so many Chinese people in this class. somehow it did not strike my mind at that point of time that Muslim converts comes from all races.
(this is what happens when you always go to classes full of makciks & pakciks..
you start to think that orang Islam = orang Melayu.. hahahahahaha)

so yes, i was in awe really to be surrounded by these converts. honestly, i would love to know each & every one of their story. what made them convert to Islam? how did they find Islam? was it challenging being a non-Malay Muslim? etc etc etc. you get my drift.

so these questions were just playing at the back of my head as i listened to the ustaz's presentation. my full concentration was on him, until someone diagonally behind me said something & i swiveled my head to look at that direction & noticed a guy with his whole left arm covered with tattoos (!)

and at that exact moment, pride & awe overcame me. this guy, with an arm full of tattoos (!) is attending this class!

(ermmm, you can say that i was a bit jakun la actually.. as i said my class always full of makciks & pakciks hence to get such a vibrant class is a bit overwhelming i might say.. hehehe)

so yes, once i got over myself, i managed to continue listening to ustaz's presentation.. he presents in English by the way, but of course. and this was the other (little) problem i had as i am very much used to other ustaz presenting in either Malay or Bahasa Indonesia.. i literally had to translate (in my head of course) some of the things he was saying to the Malay language.. hahaha..
very kental i know!!!

like for example, caliphates = khalifahs, shroud = kain kafan, and then there's forbearance, magnanimity, emoluments & well, you get the idea.. hehe.. maklumlah, cikgu Melayu.. ;p

so yes, all in all it was really an awesome experience to say the least. :)

and something happened too (right after cuzzie asked me along) which made her said,
"alhamdulillah, see better things happen when we decide to do good things for ourselves :D"

so to you, i wanna thank you too for making my day with that sweet (but cheeky) message of yours. good luck with the making of the video montage. i miss you today.
(and who this person is? that, i shall not say, for now. hehe.)

to end this off, again i reiterate.. Allah IS indeed the BEST of all planners. :))

Allah is the best of planners

sometimes, we just need something to happen to be reminded of God's grand scheme of things.
After all, He is the best of planners. (Surah Al-e'Imran, Ayat 54)

like for me, today happened.

and i'm still delirious from the awesomeness of it all. syukur alhamdulillah. :))
story will have to wait till tomorrow.
for now, this lady needs her sleep.

toodles everyone!

all over again

"Love? It’s kind of complicated, kid - but I’ll tell you this. The second you’re willing to make yourself miserable to make someone else happy - that’s love right there."

- A Heartbeat Away -

and i thought
when you never really stop loving someone,
the love just stays the way it is.
i did not count on the fact that the love
can actually grow.

i can now safely say,
you have always been the one, the only one,
who truly understands me.

panjatkanlah syukurmu kepadaNya

Rasul Allah (SAW) said: “Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his, and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer: For if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (Allah), thus there is good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (enduring it patiently), there is good for him in it.”

[HR Muslim]

A Muslim is thus truly blessed, regardless of the circumstances of his/her life. A non-Muslim considers himself fortunate only if he is healthy, wealthy, happy and more.
But a Muslim is lucky all the time.

This is because he/she is accruing reward for Jannah whether they are healthy or terminally ill, prosperous or needy, relaxing in palaces or rotting in jails. This is indeed a unique favour of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to his pious servants. Just remember and turn to Allah always.
